‘It was a beautiful structure;’ collapse imperils future of historic Red Bridge hydro plant in Wilbraham

WILBRAHAM – Firefighters and a building official were back at the Red Bridge hydroelectric site Monday, checking on conditions as they await an engineering report from the generation station’s owners to evaluate damage from last week’s partial collapse of the historic structure.

“We can’t enter the building,” Wilbraham Building Inspector John Walsh said Monday. “If anything else collapses on the building it would be very, very, dangerous.”
